Quirt, is a 2006 colt out of our wild caught one-eyed mustang mare by Bit-O-Wy Mellow. This family has a history of impressing all who meet them. They are beautiful not only on the outside but also on the inside with their calm acceptance of new things, eagerness to please and just enough sensitivity give them style. While he is not as large as his sire Mellow, Quirt's gentleness and color helped us in our decision to use him as our new herd sire.

Mellow,- DECEASED - a pale-palomino when wild-caught as a yearling, exhibited an exceptional attitude. As he matured, Mellow's attitude, size, curls and emerging golden and cream coat so impressed us that we kept him intact and have used him as our foundation stud. At 16.1 hands and 1300 pounds, Mellow stamps his offspring with his curls, vivid coloring, attitude and size. Unfortunately, Mellow passed away in 2010 but as he has many offspring on these pages we have opted to leave him here so browsers can still see him.

Sed was not at first easily recognized as a Curly because he sheds his curly mane and much of his tail. However, he clearly demonstrates the prized Curly attitude and his curls become evident with closer observation. His sensible Curly attitude saved us from one disaster when he slipped his halter while staked out for dinner. He had only been handled two days and could easily have turned a tricky situation into a disaster as he was not inside a closed fence. Yet he kept eating as Don approached, and  chewed through the process of being haltered and led back into the corral. Small in height this boy passes on his stocky perfection in confirmation and bone structure.
